The Courage in Poetry: Living a Brave and Centred Life in a Very Anxious World

This three part series, live and recorded, will explore the way poetry can teach us imaginative and practical steps toward being more courageous, more physically here and less anxious about the world in which we live.

Human beings have always lived in anxious times, no matter the epoch into which they were born. The invitation of this time is to learn what particular forms of anxiety are the hallmark of our present and then learn to counter and live beyond these narrow anxieties by enlarging the context and the courage of our own lives.

Poetry might be the ultimate invitation to being brave, being present and being generous, both to ourselves and to others. Being brave always ultimately means being our self, but this underlying self is a fluid, moveable, almost unnameable being that only poetry can embody fully.

Please join me for the Three Sundays in July where we will look at the daily disciplines, large and small, of living a brave and centred life in a very anxious world.

With anticipation,

and all of us at Many Rivers
