Driving alone, how many of us have experienced, not only moments of great beauty but also the threshold insights that have arisen from being immersed, hour after hour in that beauty? The road beyond Oughterard into the West and over past Maam in Connemara is always an invitation into both a disappearance and reappearance for me. The star was a surprise that evening, a beckoning hand, an intuition of the next epoch of my life, hovering just over the horizon of my understanding. DW
Ah, David...that threshold moment when you at last see the star "you did not realize you were following" inviting you "to a different way through land you once thought familiar." Such threshold moments, I believe, are key to any ripening we may experience along the way and demand from us a singular courage to heed that "sudden lapse and steal of light" that calls: a different way this time.
“The body at tiptoe leaning toward…” is a posture that holds me in my story. Fear and curiosity. Both states of mind, whether one is inside one or the other, are consuming. I am no different to anyone else but myself.

David- I do adore your way of seeing even the most basic of things…expanded to such wonder.
“the crack between the world
as you want it
and the world you
seem to have inherited,
the evening light beginning
to pale everything,
and the great discipline
remembering”
Ah.

Thank you David for always cutting through
“the grey leash
of habit that feeds
our disappointment…” I know that road well – the drive will never be the same again. 🙏
