In the evening, that shadow on Coldspring
is where the sun goes down.
Time, when the bow touches shore, to watch
the sun roll down that long curve of hillside
and wait.

Paddle laid crossways,
back leaning on the upright seat,
heels resting in cold water,
rudder pulled up.
