Thank you, David, for reminding us that life’s greatest reward comes from honoring our true self and our capacity to be vulnerable, not from titles and awards that are fleeting and unsustainable.
This poem in all of its raw vulnerability, is so elegant juxtaposed with La Belle Epoque, 'The Beautiful Era'. It reminds me of all of us in our authentic tender hearted center, pregnant with the possibility of something beautiful, walking forward into the Mists of Avalon, our cups of emotion turned upside down, pouring onto the path in front of us, purifying the journey, though scared and alone, not knowing what's ahead but having the courage to pass through the fog anyway. I feel a warm cloak of consolation blanketing my heart, followed by a deep sigh of relief.
To be courageous is not necessarily to go anywhere or do anything, except to make conscious those things we already feel deeply and then to live through the unending vulnerabilities of those consequences.
What can be said to this but yes. And agreement with Miranda who commented below.
Beautiful! "To be courageous is not necessarily to go anywhere or do anything, except to make conscious those things we already feel deeply and then to live through the unending vulnerabilities of those consequences." This IS courage at it's most raw, foundational form. Thank you, David! XO
I would totally read a special edition of Consolations with a introduction like this to every piece. It adds a whole new layer of meaning.
